About the Position/Role/ Job Summary

The Head of School is the proactive leader who will oversee the academic programs and administration of the campus to ensure overall success of the school. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills who likes to engage and mentor people. They will be service focussed, highly adaptable and will enjoy solving problems and working on diverse projects.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Responsible for the overall Academics of the school including extra-curricular activities.
  • Ensure Ministry of Education standards are exceeded throughout including curriculum, reports etc. Be the Primary contact between the school and the Ministry of Education.
  • Oversee the Campus Life programs and integrating Bronte College’s vision throughout the school day and after school for the campus life students.
  • Lead, supervise and manage the academic team of the school.
  • Assist with international and local marketing efforts – Attend open houses, local fairs, as well as travel to international school and fairs.
  • Participate in the interview and selection process of the Academic & Campus Life Staff.
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures; Interpret, implement, and administer departmental policies.
  • Lead regular staff meetings and Department Head meetings; conduct on time, fair and consistent performance appraisals for the academic staff.
  • Responsible for the Campus Life team exceeding the objectives of the Campus Life department; Ensure student life and safety are looked after school.
  • Ensure the evening study session and activities are executed effectively.
  • Educate academic staff of different school programs (i.e., International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), tutoring, summer camp) and able to speak about and answer questions about the programs.
  • Oversee the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program.
  • Communicate feedback from parents/students with related teams.
  • Ensuring the health and safety regulations are being met at the school. This includes regular inspection, training all staff on safe working procedures and a management member of the JHSC.
  • Ensure students are always abiding by the Bronte College Code of Behavior.
  • Working closely with partner schools.
  • Available and on call 24/7 for emergencies.
  • To complete any additional duties assigned by the Managing Director.

Working Conditions

  • Hours of work: weekdays 8:00am to 4:00pm; evening and weekend hours may be required for school dances, parent teacher nights, staff meetings, curriculum nights, open houses, fairs.
  • International travel is required.

Minimum Requirements

  •  Five years of administration experience. International experience is welcome.
  • Principal’s qualification program or a master’s degree is required.
  • Undergraduate Degree from a university.
  • Ontario College of Teachers certified and in good standing.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Experience using a computer and computer applications.

Position – Cook (Full-Time)

  • Rotate food refrigerators, places and stores food in clean containers.
  • Prepare food items in designated areas in accordance with standards of quality, technique, quantity control, taste and presentation as established by the Head Chef.
  • Anticipate and prepare for menu requests (e.g. special diets, allergies, etc.).
  • Responsible for meals, salad bar preparation and desserts.
  • Assist in monthly inventory counts.
  • Prevent the spoiling and contamination of food.
  • Check food for taste, smell, temperature and eye appeal.
  • Assist in inspecting the delivery of food to ensure quality and quantity.
  • Monitor refrigerated and dry storage goods inventory levels daily.
  • Assist in the preparation of special food items requests.
  • Assist with dishwashing duties.
  • Report equipment, malfunctions to the Head Chef.
  • Maintain the work area in a safe and neat manner.
  • Participate in the nightly kitchen cleanup.
  • Minimize accidents by ensuring applicable health and safety standards are understood and applied in the conduct of all work activities.
  • Comply with company policies regarding schedules, uniforms, absenteeism and tardiness.
  • Follow company rules and regulations.
  • Ensure a full understanding of all Bronte College policies and procedures, which pertain to your work.
  • Maintain company personal appearance and grooming standards.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner to ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Practice safety standards and report all unsafe conditions to your immediate supervisor.
  • Keep your work area well organized and clean in order to provide fast and efficient service.

Position – Maintenance Assistant

We are currently looking for an individual who is a self-starter and is not afraid to get their hands dirty to join our Maintenance Team!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in performing regular inspections of all mechanical equipment, plumbing, lighting, electrical, physical walls, floors, ceilings, campus ground inspections
  • Help in performing regular inspections of fire devices as per maintenance schedule for fire protection equipment
  • Assist in maintaining HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, and common areas
  • Maintenance of common grounds
  • Assist with installation, removal and storage of air conditioning units, fridges and fix plumbing problems
  • Repair furniture and assist with moving of parcels, boxes and furniture as required
  • Review security cameras as required
  • Respond to requests from staff promptly and complete duties as assigned by Senior Management
  • Update the maintenance request daily list and submit weekly reports to the Operations Manager

Working Conditions:

  • Hours of work: 37.5 per week
  • Ability to lift or move heavy equipment or objects of 50lbs
  • Ability to handle work environment including strong odors/smell and variable temperatures

Position – Campus Life Staff

As a Campus Life Staff, you will:

  • Assist with maintaining a safe, clean and caring environment for all students living in residence.
  • Be regularly visible and available for assigned residence/house.
  • Assist with organizing, leading and attending residence activities and trips and events.
  • Ensure that the residence is secure and the students are abiding by the Bronte College Code of behaviour at all times.
  • To coordinate the delivery of all residence services to students to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Respond to the needs of students and promote a positive and friendly atmosphere in the residence.
  • Available and on call 24/7 when assigned.
  • Organize and chair weekly floor meetings.
  • A member of residence committees.
  • Maintain informal contact with students about academic progress, personal concerns and make appropriate referrals.
  • Bring or ensure an adult is with students at health clinics and hospitals when needed.
  • Liaise with school nurse regarding student injuries or illnesses.
  • Liaise with maintenance and cleaning staff with student concerns, residence conditions and room preparedness.
  • Liaise with parents when required.
  • Assign rooms and maintain a current Room Allocation List of room allocations.
  • Ensure that weekly room inspections have been carried out.
  • Assist with home stay resources when required.
  • Schedule resources and perform airport pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Trained in the fitness centre equipment usage and safety.
  • Front desk duties when sitting at the front desk.
  • Airport pickups and drop offs
  • To complete any additional duties assigned by Senior Management.

Working Conditions

  • Hours of work: 37.5 (Full-Time); Normal working hours are evening and weekends.
  • Shifts rotate monthly: (4pm -11:59pm ; 12pm to 8:00pm ; 8am-4pm)
  • Overnight retreats are a requisite of the position.
  • Available and on-call 24/7 for emergencies when assigned.
  • Ability to lift or move heavy equipment or objects of 20lbs.
  • It is optional to live in or live out but please specify in your job application

You will possess the following requirements

  • University Degree or College diploma or equivalent working experience.
  • Degree in social work is considered an asset.
  • Must have a Valid G driver’s license.
  • Certified first aid trained.
  • Experience using a computer and computer applications required.
  • Experience with adolescents in a residential setting.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Certified first aid training.
  • Other languages are an asset
  • Enjoys working in a diverse multi-cultural environment

As a Kitchen Helper / Dishwasher you will:
