Celebrating the Class of 2025
On June 26th, we proudly celebrated our graduates at the annual Graduation Ceremony. The event was a heartfelt tribute to the accomplishments, leadership, and resilience of our students throughout their academic journey.
We are thrilled to recognize this year’s exceptional award recipients, whose achievements reflect not only academic excellence but also leadership, service, and community impact. Congratulations to Hai Yen, recipient of the Laurier Bronte Leadership Scholarship, and to both Tin Lok Tony and George, who were awarded the Trent Bronte Leadership Scholarship. The Kathleen Vaughan Award was awarded to Don Divin for outstanding character and perseverance. We were also proud to introduce two new awards this year: the Dr. Chia-Looi Award for Academic Excellence, awarded to Walton, and the Dr. Chia Community Mentorship Award, presented to Reika. These awards honor not only academic achievement but also mentorship and meaningful contribution to the school community. In addition, the Bronte College Leadership Award went to Afolarin for exemplary leadership. Arina was recognized for her dedication to volunteerism with the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award. We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to Justin, recipient of the prestigious Governor General’s Award, and to Precious, who received the Pinnacle Award.
We also take pride in celebrating our students’ outstanding academic performances in national mathematics and science contests hosted by the University of Waterloo. In the Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest, Walton earned both a medal and a Certificate of Distinction, with additional distinction certificates awarded to Qixiang, Shaoyuan, Yiruhan, Yufeng, and Hanyi. In the Euclid Contest, Hanyi received both a medal and a Certificate of Distinction, while Qixiang and Yufeng also earned distinction certificates for their excellent results. In the Sir Isaac Newton Contest Certificates of Distinction were awarded to Zongyan, Shaoyuan, Pengcheng, Walton, Hanyi, Ka Hon Oscar, Yuxuan, and Afolarin – an outstanding representation of Bronte’s strength in STEM education.
Special thanks go to our Valedictorians, Don Divin and Reika, for delivering heartfelt and inspiring speeches that captured the spirit of this graduating class. We are also grateful to Ms. Ruchi for her powerful rendition of the national anthem, which opened the ceremony beautifully. We were also honored to welcome back our alumnus, Josiah Chan, as our guest speaker. Josiah shared his own journey after Bronte and offered words of encouragement and inspiration to our newest graduates. His message was a meaningful reminder of the opportunities that lie ahead and the value of perseverance and passion.
Finally, we extend our deepest appreciation to the Bronte College staff for their dedication and unwavering support. Thank you to our Guidance Counsellors – Mr. Chou, Mr. Cyr, and Ms. Eleveld, our Head of Student Governance, Dr. Gouda, our Head of School, Ms. Power, and our Managing Director, Mr. Chia. Through the efforts of our entire school community, Bronte College continues to foster excellence and prepare students for bright futures ahead.
Congratulations once again to the Class of 2025! We are so proud of you!
