AP Courses at Bronte

This semester, Bronte College officially launched its Advanced Placement (AP) program. Current offerings include AP AVI4M (Grade 12 Art), AP SPH4U (Grade 12 Physics), and Mandarin (Grade 12), where AP materials are being used to prepare students for the May exam.

Our AP teachers are specially trained, having completed rigorous professional development workshops approved by the College Board. They have also submitted and received approval for their course outlines through the AP Course Audit process, ensuring that instruction meets the highest standards.

Why enroll in an AP course rather than only sitting for the exam?

Stronger preparation

Students benefit from structured lessons, practice tests, and feedback from experienced AP teachers.

Key academic skills

AP emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management, essential for university-level success.

Teacher and peer support

Learning in a motivated group keeps students engaged and supported throughout the year.

University recognition

AP courses on transcripts demonstrate readiness for rigorous study and are valued by universities.

Proven outcomes

According to a Canadian AP survey (2022–23), 93% of students said AP reduced first-year university stress, 94% felt it gave them an advantage, and 98% would take AP again.

AP courses are also weighted more heavily than regular high school courses, which means students can earn up to an additional 5% on their final mark, boosting their GPA. While students may register to write an AP exam independently, we strongly encourage enrolling in the full course to ensure thorough preparation, structure, and the best chance of success.
