Exploring University-Level Physics: A Field Trip to the University of Guelph
On Monday, Physics students from Grades 11 and 12, accompanied by their teacher Mrs. Sudipta Mukherjee, participated in an enriching field trip to the University of Guelph, offering them valuable insight into university academics and campus life.
The visit began with an informative talk in the auditorium, where a university professor introduced students to what university classes are like and shared an overview of campus life, helping students better understand expectations at the post-secondary level.
Following the presentation, students took part in hands-on laboratory sessions tailored to their grade level. Grade 11 students participated in an electrical circuits lab, where they applied concepts learned in class through practical experimentation. At the same time, Grade 12 students engaged in a quantum physics lab, exploring advanced theories and experimental techniques used in university-level physics.
After completing the lab sessions, students had the opportunity to enjoy lunch in the university cafeteria, experiencing a small but meaningful part of daily campus life.
Overall, the field trip was a memorable and enriching experience that deepened students’ interest in Physics while providing firsthand exposure to university learning environments. It was a valuable opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with real-world academic pathways.
