Jingyu is a well-rounded student who has excelled in academics and become heavily involved in extra-curricular clubs around campus. She is one of the 2018-2019 school year Valedictorian’s and recipient of Bronte’s Governor General Award, given to the student with the highest overall academic average. Jingyu has a passion for mathematics and has been accepted into university where she will begin to pursue a career in accounting.

Question:

Did you always have a passion for mathematics?

Answer:

I hated math when I was in China because all we did was do work instead of understanding and discovering the concepts. The teachers at Bronte helped me develop interests in math and I will always think of my very first Bronte Math teacher- Ms. Zammit.

Question:

Looking back on your first days at Bronte, have you noticed any changes in you?

Answer:

The most significant change is my communication skills. I could not speak fluent English on my first day and thus I refused to start a conversation in order to not embarrass myself. As time passes, I can confidently present and communicate in class without hesitation.

Question:

Which extra-curricular clubs are you involved in at Bronte and why did you join?

Answer:

I am a member of the Prefect Council and the Event Coordinator of the Mindful Squad. Both clubs strive to make Bronte a better place and I am glad to be part of them in my last year.

Describe success to you and what you hope to achieve in your life to be successful.

Answer:

A successful life to me is a balanced life. I can pursue my career goal and at the same time have time to be with my family and friends. I want to become a professional accountant and have a stable working time. I may refuse to climb up to a manager level because I do not want my life to be work-focused.
